Our story
The Nompat Clothing Story — Faith, Craft, and Community
We began with nothing but talented hands, a sewing machine and a calling. Today, we serve plus-size women, churches and communities across South Africa — and we're only getting started.
The problem we saw
Nearly 60% of women in South Africa are classified as overweight or obese. Many struggle to find clothes that reflect who they are with a comfortable fit. The issues:
- • Lack of representation in fashion
- • Low confidence due to poor-fitting clothing
- 2019
Zero balance
Viwe begins crafting from a small studio with one machine and big faith.
- 2021
First church orders
Mainline church uniforms become a steady stream of meaningful work.
- 2023
Plus-size focus
We commit to designing for the 60% of South African women overlooked by mainstream fashion.
- 2028
The vision
Open community access stores and employ more semi-skilled local labour.
Our value proposition
"We restore dignity, confidence and identity to women who have been overlooked — by speaking life to the inner person before we dress the body."
